Visual Design Studio — Create Your Own Logo Brand Project — Part 1
Introduction
Hello there! Welcome back to my Medium blog once again! Today, I am going to showcase a few of my logo designs that I have developed during my class session.
The goals for this project was to create an imagined brand or logo using Adobe Illustrator. This project was designed to introduce students to the iterative process in order to gain facility with creating and manipulating vector graphics to communicate an identity, character, and/or idea.
Requirements
- Select a 3–6 character combination of letters and/or numbers.
- Cannot not be yourself or your name, the only requirements are that it be something original (that you’ve made up, it cannot exist already, we are not re-branding an existing company or brand).
- Write a few sentences describing the brand/organization/company, things like its name, what it does, who its audience is, etc.
Ruling Out The Concept
So for the first draft of this project, I have begun generating ideas that I wanted to choose to make a logo or brand name for the product that I wanted to designed for. I immediately thought of choosing the concept of a small, locally-owned business brand that would specialize on selling beverages to consumers.
To give some insight of the logo/brand I have written a description for it:
Logo/Brand Name: Koba
Koba is a tea shop that specializes in making cold/hot tea beverages, particularly in milk teas and other variations of dessert drinks. The shop focuses on creating high quality drinks without compromising quality, creating memorable experiences with every sip. All of the drinks come with a guarantee that the finest ingredients are being used. Authentic, honest, and simple.
First Drawing Iterations
I began to start out by creating sketches/drawings upon the selected logo concept that I have decided on. The initial approach with these hand-drawn sketches is that I wanted to make the brand, Koba, a fun and memorable logo that people would easily remember when purchasing the products.
Next, I wanted to further illustrate the brand name by drawing the logo designs digitally to gain more perspective and changed my approach.
I shifted my focus on creating the brand name to more of a business/professional-like logo design to express the high-end qualities of the brand, in general. I performed multiple iterations of some of the designs listed below and they have turned out very appealing!
